Description
Dog Breed: Yorkshire Terrier Yorkie (medium coat). Adoption Fee: 450.00. All dogs listed here are available for adoption from Yorkie Rescue Houston. Our goal is to ensure our rescued pets go to their forever home and never end up back in the system. To that end, an application is required on all potential adopters. Our adoption fee varies by dog. We accept electronic funds via VENMO or Paypal, or cash only. Puppies too young to be spayed/neutered are available for Foster-to-Adopt only. A FTA contract is required. This boy was headed to the pound because the owner kept him day/night on the apartment porch. A kind neighbor stepped in to offer safe harbor. She reached out to us for help! We agreed to take him into rescue and once at our vet, it was discovered the dog was chipped. We contacted the chip company to get the REGISTERED owners info because it seems the woman who was originally neglecting him wasn't the legal owner. The legal owner voluntarily surrendered him to us. Now, he's up-to-date on vaccines and preventatives, and looking for his FOREVER home. Rather than continue to use the name he was neglected by, we changed his name to Casper, in the spirit of the season! He's a nice boy. Gets along will with other dogs, and loves people. and delights in walks He just wants to be loved.

A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
