Description
Dog Breed: Hound / Mixed (medium coat). Lower Fees! This sweet girl is Mollie, and she’s one of our Hope dogs! She’s a 5-year-old Hound mix who is true to her hound background. She weighs 43 pounds and is a delight, but she’s no dog for an apartment. You know how hounds can be! Mollie has made dog friends, and people at the shelter love her and she loves them! We’re not completely sure if she’s fully house trained, but she keeps her kennel super clean! Mollie loves people and so can be a little clingy when she knows you love her, too! A little mutual love is a good thing, isn’t it? (Hope, 10/4/25) "You can learn more about our Hope Dog program here: .crossingpathsanimalrescue/adopt/hope-dogs ." Lower Fees: Adoption: $150.00 Transport: $100.00

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
