Description
Dog Breed: Pug (short coat). Please read the pet description IN IT'S ENTIRETY before applying. Thank you for your cooperation. STRAY/ NEW INTAKE NOT YET TAKING APPLICATIONS – NOT YET AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION NEW INTAKE 10/4/2025: Bug Mushroom - female - approx 2 years old - 10.0 pounds - Pug Reason for intake: This little girl, we named Bug Mushroom, was found dragging her back legs in the Pinecrest Mobile Home Park off of Jefferson Paige Road in Shreveport. A nice lady spotted her and picked her up. She reached out to a local rescuer and between the two, they posted on Facebook for help. Someone messaged Ninna about the dog and we agreed to take her in. On intake, it appears she's been this way for some time. She does not seem to be in any pain or have any feeling in her back end. Her back end also appears to have atrophied (decreased muscle mass) over time. She's heading to our vet Monday 10/6/25 to find out what's going on and then we can go from there. We have notified animal control. She is not chipped, so we did microchip her. If this is your dog, please message our Facebook page ASAP. We don't go off of "see if the dog answers to XXXX"... we must have proof as in pictures and other provable information. NOT TAKING APPLICATIONS: Many dogs, particularly breeder, hoarder or senior dogs, can have multiple medical issues that need addressed. Additionally, sometimes we take in young puppies requiring multiple vaccinations and/or quarantining. In this particular case, we are not yet taking applications either due to age or possible illness or some other reason. We will post when s(he) is ready for adoption. In the interest of fairness, EARLY application submissions will NOT be considered. Please note… we cannot respond to messages/emails, etc., on dogs that are NOT yet available for adoption. Please wait until the dog is available for adoption. We will post him or her on Facebook in our Adoptable Dog Album pinned to the top of our page which you can follow at this link: .facebook/share/1B46skRWF5/ OR you can keep checking our website at .roadtorescuela. We appreciate your cooperation and understanding. “The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated.” ~ Gandhi Be responsible ~ Always spay/neuter, keep your dogs on heartworm prevention, vaccinate against disease... and if you bring a pet into your life, commit to that pet for life. Blessings.

Overview:
The Pug, a charming and ancient breed, boasts a fascinating history believed to originate in China as early as 206 BC. Known for its distinctive flat, wrinkled face, large, expressive eyes, and tightly curled tail, the Pug's compact, muscular build is instantly recognizable. Despite their somewhat serious expression, Pugs are famously friendly, playful, and affectionate companions, often described as "clowns" due to their comedic antics. Their relatively low exercise requirements and adaptability make them excellent pets for apartment dwellers and devoted family members, thriving on human companionship. However, prospective owners should be aware of certain health considerations, primarily their susceptibility to respiratory issues due to their brachycephalic (short-nosed) structure, as well as potential eye problems and joint conditions. With proper care and attention, the Pug offers years of unwavering loyalty and delightful companionship.
