Dog Breed: Unknown breed. Need a loving home for Blaze – Male, approx. 100lbs – 9yrs old Blaze was born in March of 2016, and we got him when he was 8 weeks old. Both his parents were full-blooded German Shepards, but we do not have papers on him. Blaze is very friendly and absolutely loves attention, belly rubs with your foot are just fine. He does well with all people; he’s just a big bear that thinks he’s a tiny dog. He likes to be brushed. He has a loving, gentle giant demeanor and really sweet expressions. With the heat here we keep him in our vented sunroom for comfort. He is inside trained and goes out to take care of business. Blaze is neutered. He understands some commands and travels well. Blaze has a kind spirit, loves time with everyone. Blaze is a great companion ♥️ Our situation is changing in the near future and we need to find Blaze a good home. A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
