Scroll down to see more pictures of this dog. Hermione is available for adoption. She is 8 years old and weighs 15 lbs. Her adoption fee is $550.00. Hermione is a sweet 8-year-old Yorkie with a heart of gold. She weighs 15 lbs. and is the ideal size for cuddles on the couch or a quick stroll around the neighborhood. Her hobbies include napping, sleeping and more napping. She is about as low maintenance as you can ask for. We do not know much about Hermione’s past other than she made her way from West Virginia to Save A Yorkie Rescue. She has difficulty hearing due to an untreated ear condition that she is scheduled for surgery to fix in early October. We are not sure if she will regain much of her hearing after the surgery, but it is obvious Hermione has not been able to hear very well for quite some time. She has quickly learned to follow hand commands to sit and stay (as long as treats are involved as a reward). Other than her ears, she has a clean bill of health and is up to date on vaccines. Hermione is house trained and has not had any accidents in her foster home. She doesn't like being left alone and constantly follows her foster Mom all over the house. If you are looking for a laid-back housemate who only asks to be by your side, Hermione is the perfect girl. We are starting to take adoption applications, and she will be available to go to her forever home in late October. Hermione is staying with Sarah and Matt in Reading, PA.

A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
