Description
Dog Breed: Siberian Husky (medium coat). Lily found herself at the shelter after losing her humans. Since being rescued she has come out of her shell. She loves exploring her world through her nose , esp ecially when it involves a treat hidden in a snuffle mat . Since she had her dental issues repaired she's been eating and eating and eating!! We're still getting to know her personality, and how social she wants to be. We do know she's super smart, sweet, potty trained, loves belly rubs, and is ready for adoption! If you're looking for an active happy senior to fill your home with love, Lily is your girl!

Breed overview
Siberian Husky
A.K.A.: Husky, Arctic Husky, Chukcha, Chukchi, Chukchi Sled Dog, Sibe, Sibes, Sled Dog, Snow Dog
Overview:
The Siberian Husky is a striking and beloved breed, originating from Northeast Asia where they were bred by the Chukchi people for pulling sleds over long distances in harsh conditions. Physically, they are easily recognizable by their medium size, thick double coat (available in various colors and markings), and often captivating blue or bi-colored eyes. Their temperament is typically friendly, outgoing, and playful, making them generally good with children and other dogs. However, their independent and sometimes stubborn nature, coupled with a strong prey drive, means consistent training and secure containment are essential. While affectionate, their high energy levels and need for significant exercise make them less suitable for sedentary lifestyles or tiny apartments; a house with a securely fenced yard is often preferred. Health-wise, they are generally robust but can be prone to certain conditions like hip and elbow dysplasia and eye problems such as cataracts and progressive retinal atrophy. Overall, a Siberian Husky thrives with active families committed to meeting their exercise and mental stimulation needs.
