Description
Dog Breed: Unknown breed (short coat). Please note that we can not guarantee the age, expected weight or breed of any animal. What we provide is our best estimates based on our experience and the information provided by the our medical partners. If breed and eventual size are of great importance we suggest looking into a breed specific rescue or adopting a full grown animal. Unless otherwise noted, ALL animals are fostered and available for adoption on Long Island, NY. MOLLY Meet Coco (FKA Molly) Coco is an adventurous, affectionate pup with a big heart and a playful spirit. She’s crate trained, housebroken, and great with dogs, cats, and people. Coco loves spending time with children and would thrive in an active home where she can play and explore. She’s a smart girl who’s learned to ring a bell when she needs to go outside — and she’s gentle with her food and toys. When playtime is over, Coco loves curling up near her people, content just to be close. Coco’s combination of smarts, sweetness, and affectionate nature make her a wonderful addition to any loving family.

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
