Dog Breed: German Shepherd Dog (medium coat). Susie is an approximately 9-month-old, petite (48 pound) German Shepherd who will absolutely melt your heart. She’s a gentle, loving girl with a low to medium energy level — just the right mix of playful and calm. Susie can be a little shy at first and may take a moment to warm up in new situations, but once she realizes she’s safe, her sweet personality shines. Her favorite thing in the whole world is cuddling with her person. Whether it’s curling up in your chair, on the couch, or in bed, she’s happiest being close to her human. She’s a true little shadow who loves to give and receive affection. Susie enjoys going for walks and playing with her foster sibling, though she’s a bit more laid-back than her playful foster brother. She’ll occasionally entertain herself with a stuffed toy, too! She has free rein of the house 24/7 and does wonderfully — she’s housebroken, respectful indoors, and not crate trained simply because she hasn’t needed to be. She’s learning basic manners like “sit” and “wait at the gate,” and she’s doing great. A yard with an at least four foot high fence would be ideal. Susie would likely do well with a calm, friendly dog and possibly a dog-savvy cat. She’d also do best with older, considerate children since she can be a bit unsure at first. Susie would thrive in a home where someone is around often — perhaps someone retired or who works from home — and where she’ll be given the time and patience to settle in. She blossoms quickly once she feels secure, and in just a couple of days, you’ll see her confidence grow.
