Description
Dog Breed: Shepherd / Belgian Shepherd Malinois / Mixed (short coat). Adoption Fee: 600. Meet Hollyn! This beautiful girl is as sweet as she is smart! Hollyn has a short coat, so she’s not one for cold weather — when it’s chilly out, she’ll politely sit by the door and give you the look that says, “I’m ready to go back inside now, thanks.” She’s still a little cautious when people walk directly toward her, but she’s made amazing progress and continues to gain confidence every day. Once she knows you, she’s all love! Hollyn adores attention, learns quickly (usually within one or two tries), and listens so well. She’s growing fast and will be a big, strong girl, but her personality is gentle and calm. While she enjoys running and playing with her dog friend, she’s often happiest sitting back and watching the action unfold. She’s not hyper or overly energetic, but she is curious and smart enough to get into a little mischief if she’s left to her own devices — she just likes to keep life interesting! Hollyn is very affectionate and will happily sit at your feet, waiting patiently for pets. She loves squeaky toys, playing with her canine buddy, and of course, mealtime (her favorite part of the day!). She’s doing great with her routine — she sleeps through the night without crying or accidents and goes out early in the morning. She’s excellent in her play area and crate, content to relax there for a few hours during the day. Hollyn hasn’t yet met cats or young children, but she’s so loving and eager to please that she’ll likely thrive in a home that helps her continue learning and growing. If you’re looking for a sweet, smart, lovable companion who’s ready to be your best friend, Hollyn might just be your perfect match. Hollyn is from Texas. Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
