Dog Breed: Shepherd / Terrier / Mixed (short coat). Adoption Fee: 350. Meet Snickers! Snickers is a 6-month-old Shepherd/Terrier mix with a big personality and even bigger energy! This handsome, spirited boy is full of life and always ready for his next adventure. He’s playful, curious, and incredibly smart — the kind of pup who will thrive with an active family ready to keep his body and brain busy. Snickers is still working on his manners and will benefit from a patient adopter who’s committed to consistent training and structure. He’d love a home where he can get plenty of exercise and mental stimulation. While he enjoys playing with other dogs, he does best with confident playmates rather than overly submissive ones. With the right guidance, Snickers will make a wonderful, loyal companion for an active home that’s ready for a fun, energetic, and affectionate young dog who loves to live life to the fullest! A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
