Description
Dog Breed: Poodle (unknown type). Sweet, silly, and sleepy, that’s Demi in three words! This 4 year old, 18 lb Poodle mix is the ultimate Netflix and chill kind of gal, who loves nothing more than curling up in your lap and napping the day away. Demi came into our care because her previous home didn’t want to deal with her skin issues. She recently visited ivypetsco where we learned that her skin issues are most likely food related or environmental — and easily managed! She’s now on a new fish based diet and using a medicated shampoo, and we expect to see improvement over the next 2 months. She’s also been spayed while in our care and, of course, was the best girl for it all. She’s fully crate trained, house trained, and great with both dogs and cats. Though still a little nervous outside, she’s gaining confidence each day and learning that walks can be fun too. Demi is gentle, loving, and simply wants a cozy home to call her own.

In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics.
