Dog Breed: German Shepherd Dog (medium coat). Meet Levi, a striking white German Shepherd who arrived at the shelter on August 1st. Levi has had a complicated start, coming to us after being found on a property where he was reported to have killed a chicken, and possibly a goat. Since then, he has been adjusting to a new way of life and slowly learning to trust. While still cautious and timid in new situations—especially on leash or during car rides—Levi is showing steady progress. Once he relaxes, he enjoys exploring on walks, running around, and playing energetically with other dogs. He has no history of food or toy guarding and loves to cuddle when he feels comfortable. Levi is a high-energy, playful boy who thrives with confident canine companions. He plays rowdy, so he would do best with another medium or large dog that can match his style. Cats and small animals are not recommended, as he does have a drive to chase smaller creatures. Around people, Levi is sweet but shy—he may try to avoid strangers at first, but with time, patience, and consistency, he bonds strongly to “his person” and finds comfort in their presence. Levi is crate trained and making progress with house training, though his anxiety can sometimes lead to accidents. He does best in a calm, structured home where he isn’t left alone for long periods, as he struggles with separation anxiety. This sensitive boy needs an adopter who will provide stability, reassurance, and plenty of outlets for his energy. In return, Levi promises unwavering loyalty, affection, and the joy of watching a shy, beautiful shepherd blossom into his best self.
