Dog Breed: Shepherd / Labrador Retriever / Mixed. Hi, I'm Maverick! I'm a 1 yr old shepherd mix! My family was moving and didn't have enough space for me anymore. They also said with their jobs they didn't have time for me, and I wasn't enjoying going inside my crate anymore at night. So, I am crate trained but I need plenty of time out of it to stretch my legs. My family had kids, and I was good with them, but I was the only pet in the home. Since being here the staff have found that I would like to play with another dog but one who is not dominate as I am and I also dominate. I didn't seem to mind the cats. Although I was in a home with children the overall feel is that maybe older children would be best. Not only because of my energy but also because I have seen some slight signs of resource guarding my food. I would need a home where the children do not play with my food or know not to reach in my bowl. I enjoy playing fetch and I also know some basic commands like sit, shake, stay, and down. I sit at the door and bark when I need to go potty! I do need to work on jumping on people and my leash manners could be better, I also love to try to sneak people food, but I can be taught not to do that if you give me some patience. Although I'm a big guy the vacuum still scares me.
