Description
Dog Breed: Shepherd / Australian Cattle Dog/Blue Heeler / Mixed (medium coat). Jane is a 9-month-old female Shepherd/Heeler mix who must be spayed before adoption. She is an owner turn in because they have too many animals. Jane has a brown coat with black highlights; and she has white markings on her chest. This beautiful young lady weighs 20 pounds so we don't think she will be more than a 30-35 pounds adult dog. Jane is little sweetheart who gets along well with other dogs; and would be great in a home with children. She is timid but quite loving once she gets over her initial shyness. Jane is a super nice young dog who can't wait to find her forever family. Dog/puppy adoption fees are $120. Cat/kitten adoption fees are $75. All pets will be spayed/neutered before adoption; or you will be given a discount spay/neuter certificate to be used at participating vet clinics to help with the cost of spay/neuter. Our adoption fees cover a microchip, microchip registration, deworming, vaccinations (as age and law requires), and a courtesy vet exam at participating offices. Unless otherwise indicated under "special needs" our dogs have screened heart worm negative.

A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
