At 13 years old, Jake is a gentle black and tan gentleman, and at 9 years old, Scarlett is a beautiful red girl with a loving spirit. Together, they’re the very best of friends. Their mom adored them and made sure they were always cared for—up to date on vaccines and preventatives, and they’ll be getting dentals tomorrow so they’re ready for their next chapter. These two are as kind as they come: they get along with everyone, have wonderful temperaments, and are happiest when they’re near people who show them love. Jake and Scarlett miss their mom very much, but they’re ready to find a new forever home where they’ll be cherished just as much as she cherished them. The Dachshund, affectionately known as the "wiener dog," is a fascinating breed originating in Germany, primarily bred to hunt badgers and other burrowing animals. Their most distinctive physical characteristic is their long, low-slung body and short, muscular legs, a feature perfectly adapted for tunneling. They come in three coat types – smooth, longhaired, and wirehaired – and various sizes, from miniature to standard.
