Description
Dog Breed: Australian Cattle Dog/Blue Heeler / Mixed (short coat). Location: GA Meet Dorrie, a sweet and gentle three-month-old cattle dog mix with a heart full of love. Though she can be a bit timid at first, Dorrie quickly warms up and becomes the ultimate cuddle companion, happiest when snuggled close to her favorite human. She’s discovering the joys of “walkies” and loves playing and romping around outside with her sister. Dorrie is also a smart girl who’s working hard on her puppy manners—learning to potty outside, sit politely, and keep “off.” She’s respectful of her foster kitties’ space and is learning how to be the perfect little housemate. With her tender spirit and loving nature, Dorrie is sure to blossom into a loyal, affectionate best friend. She has started her puppy shots, been dewormed, and checked out by the vet. She hasn't been fixed yet and is too young for heartworm testing. Please contact cmee76gmail Caitlin 916-217-3831 Complete an Application .acdra/adoption-application

Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
