Description
Dog Breed: Yorkshire Terrier Yorkie / Mixed (medium coat). Lil Bit is a sweet pup who is looking for a furever home. Lil Bit is with our partner rescue in Louisiana but hoping to come to NJ soon. We do offer a foster-to-adopt trial to approved adopters. Lil Bit was given up to our partner rescue when her mom was moving and could not take her along. This is such a sad story we see repeated over and over. Lil Bit is housebroken and a great friend and snuggler. She would be easy to add to most homes. Lil Bit is dog friendly and cat and kid friendly. Lil Bitis fixed, up to date on vaccines and tested negative for heartworm. Her adoption fee is $450. Adopting a dog is a commitment that will require annual veterinary care at a minimum, training, exercise, enrichment, etc. Pet care is not cheap or easy and adopters should consider the costs, time and training prior to adoption. A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
