Visit our FAQ page to learn why. Sweet, loyal, and full of personality that's Maggie! This lovely 10-year-old gal has a big heart and an even bigger love for her person. Maggie is fully house-trained and thrives on routine. She'll let you know when it's time to go outside and loves her daily walks and a few playful zoomies in the yard. She would love to have a fenced yard at her forever home! Maggie is social and enjoys meeting new people one-on-one. She does well with smaller dogs and could happily share her home with a calm canine companion. Around younger kids, supervision is best she can get excited and might jump up to say hello! When it's time to relax, Maggie loves to perch on the couch or armrest, keeping watch out the window. She was a star for her grooming appointment and clearly enjoys being pampered. Maggie forms strong bonds with her person and loves being close she'll follow you from room to room just to be near you. Because she doesn't enjoy being left alone for long periods (and will "talk" about it when she is), she's best suited for a home where someone is around most of the day and without shared walls. Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
