Description
Dog Breed: Shepherd / Mixed. Introducing Jack, an 8 week old, 6.5 pound, shepherd mix who is looking for his forever family. Jack and his siblings had a bit of a rough start in life, when they were found abandoned in a box near some railraod tracks in West Virginia. After being rescued, he had spent some time learning how to play and trust humans and is ready to be the perfect adorable addition to your family! Jack is being raised with cats, other dogs and children, and he loves everyone. At 8 weeks old he still has a lot to learn about the world and about how to be your perfect companion. He's just being introduced to crate training and housebreaking. Jack is pee pad trained, and should tranistion easily to going potty outside. As a young puppy he can be trained to be gentle with other animals and young children, with an owner who can set boundraries to help show him the ropes. He loves wrestling with his siblings and then can be found taking a nap on a cozy dog bed. Jack is eager to spend time with people and will eagerly take a nap in your lap. While he has plenty of puppy exuberance, Jack also loves some quiet time and can often be found laying on his own chewing a favorite toy. It is believed that Jack is going to be a medium sized dog when he grows up. He will be neutered and up to date on age appropriate vaccinations at the time of his adoption. Jack and his siblings will be available for adoption after October 20, 2025 through Paws Across Pittsburgh, Springdale PA 15144 KL#16182.

Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
