Description
Dog Breed: Maltese (medium coat). Adoption Fee: 400. Online Adoption Application › Mazie is a 7-year-old Maltese with a heart as soft as her fur and a story that will melt yours. After years in a puppy mill, this sweet girl is learning that people can be kind. She’s still timid around humans, but never unkind — not a biter, just a quiet observer taking baby steps toward trust. She’s great with other dogs and cats, and would love a confident canine friend to show her the ropes. Mazie has started bonding with her foster mom — a huge win for a little dog who once trembled at a glance. And, her spunky little personality even tries to peek out every now and then. She is an utter delight and gets even better with each new bit of herself that she feels safe enough to share (a prancing walk, an excited tail wag, a playful hop). She’s working on potty training and tries so hard to please. She's low-energy and content to nap near her people. Mazie walks politely on a leash and sleeps quietly in her crate at night. Mazie needs a patient, gentle adopter who will let her blossom at her own pace and understands that it will take a long time. Underneath the nerves is a loyal, loving companion just waiting to be discovered — one soft wag and cuddle at a time. This sweet pup came to Pawfect Match after a large breeder bust in the Southwest. Though shy at first, they’re now ready to begin a new life filled with love, patience, and companionship. We’re so grateful for the opportunity to help these animals who endured such difficult conditions. With proper veterinary care and plenty of TLC*************************************************** The adoption fee is $400, which covers vetting, microchip and the spay/neuter surgery performed by a rescue-affiliated vet. All dogs receive a wellness visit and are up to date on shots appropriate for age. Breed and size is Pawfect Match Rescue's best guess and not guaranteed. Overview:
The elegant Maltese is a delightful toy breed renowned for its captivating beauty and charming personality. Originating from the island of Malta, these ancient dogs were once favored companions of European nobility. Physically, they are characterized by their single coat of long, silky, pure white hair that gracefully drapes over a compact, well-proportioned body, typically weighing between 4-7 pounds. Their expressive dark eyes and black button nose add to their adorable appeal. Temperamentally, Maltese are known for being affectionate, playful, and intelligent, making them highly trainable and eager to please. They thrive on human companionship and are generally excellent with children and other pets, provided they are socialized early. Their small size and relatively low exercise requirements make them ideal for apartment living and suitable for families of all types, including first-time dog owners. While generally healthy, potential owners should be aware of common breed-specific concerns such as dental issues and luxating patellas.
