Dog Breed: Terrier / Mixed. A VERY SWEET FRIEND: Approx. 11 years old / Approx. 19 lbs. Hi there, I’m Silas! I came to Mostly Mutts from animal control and I’m happy to be here and ready to find my new loving home! When I arrived, I needed bloodwork and a good dental cleaning, and I’ve received those, thanks to a generous grant from the Grey Muzzle Organization. Now I’m in a great foster home, just waiting to meet my new family! • OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS: I like the female dog in my foster home, and we enjoy playing together. I’ve also met a few neighbor dogs on my walks and have done well with them. I also met some dogs at Mostly Mutts and although I didn’t want to play with them, I didn’t show any aggression. If you have a nice dog at home, let’s meet and see if we can be pals. / Cats unknown. / I haven’t met kids yet at Mostly Mutts, so let’s meet and best no toddlers that I may bump over or that may fall on me. • PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL: I’m a calm, gentle fellow with a heart full of sweetness and love to share. I have the peaceful spirit of a wise little man and the affectionate nature of a loyal friend. I was a perfect angel for my bath - so patient and relaxed - and I love giving kisses and soaking up love in return. I’m a happy, easygoing senior who will make a wonderful companion. / Energy Level: 4-6 - I still have plenty of pep in my step! • SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY: I know the ‘sit’ command and I bet you can teach me even more! / I’m doing well in my crate at Mostly Mutts. / My potty habits are good in my foster home, where I let my foster know that I need to go out. • LIKES/DISLIKES: I love spending time with people, going for walks, and taking in all the wonderful smells around me. After my walks with my foster mom and fur sibling, I enjoy cuddling up in my warm bed for a cozy nap. I’m happiest when I can share gentle affection, give a few kisses, and just enjoy being close to the nice volunteers. / I haven’t shown any dislikes but I’m sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love, attention, good care, and training. • MEDICAL: I'm current on annual vaccinations, micro-chipped and neutered. I had 2 teeth pulled during my dental cleaning. If you’re looking for a sweetie, come meet me! My adoption fee is $299.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
