Description

Dog Breed: Pug. Adoption Fee: 200. ATTENTION: All of our dogs are in private foster homes. We do NOT have a kennel with multiple dogs. If you find a dog you want to meet in person, please go to .secondchancedogrescue and complete an application. We will make every attempt to process all applications within 3 business days of receipt. // // Meet Kiko, a 13-year-old, 17 pound pug with a heart as big as his love for snacks! This gentle little gentleman is calm, cuddly, and friendly with everyone — dogs, cats, chickens, and kids alike. Despite his age (and being a little hard of hearing), Kiko enjoys life’s simple pleasures: leisurely walks, car rides with the windows cracked, and plenty of cozy naps. He’s the definition of an easygoing companion. Kiko is house-trained but, like many senior boys, he does have a tendency to lift his leg a bit too often — a small quirk for such a loving pup. He’s looking for a family that will cherish his golden years and give him all the love (and treats) he deserves. He is neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped. His adoption fee is $200. All Second Chance Dog Rescue dogs are spayed/neutered, are up to date on vaccines and have microchips prior to adoption. Adoption fees vary depending on age of dog. Fees help Second Chance Dog Rescue cover spay/neuter costs, vaccinations, medical treatments, food and supplies. Please go to .secondchancedogrescue and complete an application today! All dogs live in private foster homes until they are adopted.

Overview:

The Pug, a charming and ancient breed, boasts a fascinating history believed to originate in China as early as 206 BC. Known for its distinctive flat, wrinkled face, large, expressive eyes, and tightly curled tail, the Pug's compact, muscular build is instantly recognizable. Despite their somewhat serious expression, Pugs are famously friendly, playful, and affectionate companions, often described as "clowns" due to their comedic antics. Their relatively low exercise requirements and adaptability make them excellent pets for apartment dwellers and devoted family members, thriving on human companionship. However, prospective owners should be aware of certain health considerations, primarily their susceptibility to respiratory issues due to their brachycephalic (short-nosed) structure, as well as potential eye problems and joint conditions. With proper care and attention, the Pug offers years of unwavering loyalty and delightful companionship.
