Annie #11 | 4 years old Hound Mix | The Perfect Balance of Playful and Sweet Meet Annie, a 4-year-old Hound mix weighing about 40 pounds. With her beautiful brown, black, and white coat and gentle eyes, Annie is the perfect blend of playful energy and calm companionship. She’s house-trained, scratches at the door to go out, and enjoys her walks—always making them an easy, pleasant experience. Annie has had only positive interactions with other dogs, and after a few days of settling in, she fit right in with her foster’s resident pups. She’s also been incredibly gentle with young children, happily soaking up love from her 7-year-old and 1-year-old human friends. Annie hasn’t met any cats yet, but her easygoing nature suggests she could adjust well. She’s a medium-energy girl who enjoys a good walk or play session but also loves curling up for a cozy nap afterward. Annie is food-motivated, affectionate, and learning basic commands like stay and down. She thrives with routine and boundaries, responding well to gentle structure. While she can whine a bit when left alone and occasionally gets into a shoe or bag when bored, she’s young and still learning—especially after some downtime from her recent spay. Mostly, Annie just wants to be near her humans, often resting her head on you or “army crawling” closer to cuddle. Annie would do well in a home with kids, dogs, or both, but she’d be perfectly happy as an only dog, too. She’s active enough for walks and adventures, yet mellow enough to relax when it’s time to chill. Whoever adopts Annie will be getting a loyal, loving, and adaptable companion who’s ready to fill her forever home with warmth and affection. Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
