Description
Dog Breed: Terrier / Mixed (short coat). Moon Pie is an 8-month-old female Terrier mix who has already been spayed. She was found as a stray out in the county; and her owner did not claim her. Moon Pie has a gorgeous, shiny chocolate coat with white markings. This pretty girl weighs 31 pounds; so she is a medium sized dog. Moon Pie is very active and quite playful. She would need an opportunity to get her "zoomies" out daily; so we would recommend a securely fenced yard for her to play. Moon Pie is good with other dogs and would be good with children. She is working on her leash training. Moon Pie is a real character who enjoys life to its fullest! Dog/puppy adoption fees are $120. Cat/kitten adoption fees are $75. All pets will be spayed/neutered before adoption; or you will be given a discount spay/neuter certificate to be used at participating vet clinics to help with the cost of spay/neuter. Our adoption fees cover a microchip, microchip registration, deworming, vaccinations (as age and law requires), and a courtesy vet exam at participating offices. Unless otherwise indicated under "special needs" our dogs have screened heart worm negative.

A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
