Description
Dog Breed: Boxer (short coat). Leo & his gal pal Lady were left behind when their owner moved. We aren't sure of Leo's age...we have been told 4 years and 7 years...we hope to have a better idea on that once the pair gets to the vet clinic to be all checked over and to get all of their needed vetting, incluidng neuter surgery for Leo. They are both good with other dogs and formerly lived cats. Leo is deaf. He is in need of a foster home once all of his vetting is completed. 11/6 UPDATE: Leo & Ladybug arrived at their Ohio foster home last weekend and they are getting all settled in and are doing great! They saw the vet this week to get all of their sutures/staples out from their surgeries (Leo - neuter and bump removal) and Ladybug (bump removal) and both recovered well from all of that plus having some dental work done. Please check back often for updates and new pictures of this precious pair!!

Breed overview
Boxer
A.K.A.: Deutscher Boxer, German Boxer, Dutch Boxer, Boxer dog, Boxy, Boxerman
Overview:
The Boxer is a medium-sized, short-haired dog breed of German origin, known for its distinctive appearance and vibrant personality. Physically, Boxers possess a strong, athletic build with a characteristic square head, an undershot jaw, and often a docked tail and cropped ears (though these practices are becoming less common). Their short, glossy coat typically comes in fawn or brindle, often with white markings. Temperamentally, Boxers are renowned for being incredibly loyal, intelligent, and energetic, making them fantastic companions for active families. They thrive on human interaction and can be playful and patient with children, making them excellent family pets. While their energy levels require regular exercise, their adaptability means they can adjust to apartment living if their activity needs are consistently met. However, potential owners should be aware of certain health considerations, including a predisposition to some cancers, heart conditions like cardiomyopathy, and hip dysplasia, underscoring the importance of responsible breeding and regular veterinary check-ups.
