Description
Dog Breed: Jack Russell Terrier (short coat). Marley is a 5-year-old male Jack Russell Terrier who has already been neutered. He is a return adoption because his owners moved and didn't take him with them. Marley has a white coat with light tan and a little bit of black markings. He weighs 20 pounds; and is considered to be a small dog. Marley is handsome and quite the southern gentleman because he is calm and very well behaved. He would be fine with children; but his former owner suggested he be an only dog. Marley is the perfect size to fit in just about anywhere; and he really wants a new start on life with a loving adopter. Dog/puppy adoption fees are $120. Cat/kitten adoption fees are $75. All pets will be spayed/neutered before adoption; or you will be given a discount spay/neuter certificate to be used at participating vet clinics to help with the cost of spay/neuter. Our adoption fees cover a microchip, microchip registration, deworming, vaccinations (as age and law requires), and a courtesy vet exam at participating offices. Unless otherwise indicated under "special needs" our dogs have screened heart worm negative.

Overview:
The Jack Russell Terrier is a small, energetic dog breed originating from England in the mid-1800s, specifically bred by Reverend John Russell for fox hunting. These compact canines are easily recognized by their sturdy, muscular build, typically weighing between 13-17 pounds, with a height of 10-15 inches at the shoulder. Their coats can be smooth, broken, or rough, predominantly white with black, tan, or tricolor markings. Known for their spirited and confident temperament, Jack Russells are highly intelligent but can also be quite stubborn, requiring consistent training and ample mental stimulation. While devoted to their families, their high energy levels and strong prey drive make them better suited for active households with secure outdoor spaces rather than small apartments. They can thrive with children if properly socialized, though supervision is always advised due to their boisterous play. Generally healthy, they can be prone to certain genetic conditions such as patellar luxation, Legg-Calve-Perthes disease, and some eye disorders, making responsible breeding crucial.
