Description
Dog Breed: Unknown breed. Bluey was dumped in our alley in August. I have tried to get my own dog, a Basenji to like her, but my dog wants to tear into her every time they are outside together. It is too difficult for me to keep them separated at all times. I took Bluey to the vet for a check up. She is approximately 1-2 years old, not chipped but in very good health. No one in my neighborhood is claiming her. Started her vaccinations including rabies. Then took her to a dog groomer. She behaved very well at both places. I thought I could get my dog to calm down around Bluey, but it just isn't happening. My dog wants to totally dominate Bluey even though Bluey is almost twice her size. Bluey is only 38 pounds. My grand and great grand children love her. She loves to play with them. She is very nervous as an inside dog, but very relaxed and playful in the back yard. She was not potty trained, but definitely crate trained. I wish I could keep her. I have used all the guidelines from my dog trainer to try to get my Basenji to calm down but it is just not happening. The Basenji is 4 years old and excellent around people, just not dogs. The Huskey is excellent around everyone and just wants to play all the time, especially since she is still is a puppy. **** Breed: Husky mix **** Pet Link: .nokillnetwork/adoption/pet_detail.php?petid=2189262&flag=1

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
