Description
Dog Breed: Unknown breed. Finn is a beautiful, very sweet and smart Aussie. Like a lot of Aussie's he is very anxious and protective. He loves going for walks and playing. He likes to climb onto the sofa and cuddle. He doesn't chew things or go to the bathroom in the house. He is very attentive and loving with his family. He does not do well with other dogs and cannot meet humans on the street. He is OK with humans if you bring them into the house and allow him time to get to know them at his own pace. He will "resource guard" to get attention, but is always willing to trade the item for a "goodie. We rescued him from a situation where he was not socialized as a puppy and experienced some abuse. When he's in a defensive situation he may nip to make the situation stop. We have a toddler grandchild and have realized Finn needs to be in a lower risk situation because toddlers are unpredictable, which does not play to Finn's strengths. We are not willing to give up seeing our grandson, so sadly and unfortunately, Finn can no longer live with us. **** Breed: Austrian Sheppard **** Pet Link: .nokillnetwork/adoption/pet_detail.php?petid=2189676&flag=1

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
