Description
Dog Breed: Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed (short coat). Junior is a short, stout, big-headed goofball with a heart just as big. Junior’s story started on the street, where he was found as a stray in Chicago — scared, injured, and in need of some kindness. When we took him in, he was timid and cautious. It took him days to feel brave enough to wander around the house, and weeks before he truly began to trust us. But once Junior realized he was safe, his personality blossomed. Now he’s a playful, goofy boy who loves to make us laugh. He enjoys playing with our cat and dog, chasing balls, chewing bones, wrestling, going for walks, and snuggling. He has a heart FULL of love to give. Junior is a shy guy by nature and can still be easily startled, so he needs patient people who understand he will need time and space to come out of his shell, build trust, and gain confidence. Once he feels secure, he’ll reward you with endless affection, loyal companionship, and plenty of silly antics. estimated age: 3 years If you are interested in Junior please fill out an adoption application at: .dogsaredeservingrescue/adopt

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
