Description
Dog Breed: Schnauzer / Mixed. Rocky Road is a fun-loving, one-year-old pup. He is a great cuddler and gets along well with the other dogs in the house—though at times he does like to let everyone know he’d prefer to be the boss. When meeting new people, Rocky may surprise you with his loud and enthusiastic behavior, but after a few minutes and some pets, he’s absolutely thrilled to be with you. This sweet boy is close to—but not yet 100%—housebroken. Rocky Road does have some separation anxiety and isn’t a big fan of spending time in a crate, although it is impoving. Due to this separation anxiety Rocky Road needs to be living in a single family home. This sweet, adorable pup is looking for a loving home where he could snuggle up and get some love! Stop by our weekly adoption events on Saturdays from 12-4 pm at 372 Townline Road in Mundelein, IL 60060 to meet our adoptable animals in person. Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
