Dog Breed: Great Dane. LOCATION: San Antonio, TX DOB: 04/15/2023 Laverne is a gentle, kind-hearted Great Dane who would love nothing more than to spend her days lounging around with her people. She is truly a couch potato at heart—she’s happiest with the simple life, and a backyard is all the adventure she needs. While she may be shy and a bit unsure of new things at first, she adjusts quickly and learns to trust with a little patience and reassurance. One of Laverne’s sweetest habits is laying her head in your lap just to soak up some love, and she’s always happy to lean in for a big hug. She is housetrained, does well in a crate, and walks nicely on a leash. Car rides are still a little intimidating, but she’s making progress and has started resting her head on the console for comfort. She has lived with both large and small dogs and does well as long as they respect her space—if pushed, she’ll give a little warning and that’s enough for everyone to settle down. Cats and children are unknown, but she hasn’t shown a prey drive. Around adults she’s been polite and friendly, though she can be cautious with strangers and takes comfort in calm, quiet environments. Laverne is smart, sometimes a little opinionated, and full of personality. During training she once flopped down dramatically as if to say, “fine, now give me the treat,” which perfectly sums up her silly but clever spirit.
