Description
Dog Breed: Jack Russell Terrier / Chihuahua. Meet Bunny and look at her precious ears! Bunny is a sweet Chihuahua mix, appropriately 1-2 years old, around 12 pounds, housebroken and crate trained. Bunny is good with other dogs, loves people and is kid friendly (school age children). Sweet Bunny loves to go on walks, play with her toys, chase squirrels in the backyard and snuggle up to rest for her next playful adventure. Bunny is as sweet as they come and loves her people. Sadly, Bunny is heartworm positive and will need to be spayed. She will begin her heartworm treatments in November and once the vet gives the okay she will be spayed. But no need to worry because DFW Rescue Me covers those costs at our local vet. But in the meantime, if you're interested in this precious girl, please complete an application at dfwrescueme. The adoption fee for all of our dogs is $300.00 and that includes their vaccinations, spay or neuter, rabies and microchip. Our dogs are also heartworm negative (or we will cover their treatment). To start the process please visit our website and fill out the adoption application (.dfwrescueme) and from there the foster family can answer any questions and arrange a time to meet.

Overview:
The Jack Russell Terrier is a small, energetic dog breed originating from England in the mid-1800s, specifically bred by Reverend John Russell for fox hunting. These compact canines are easily recognized by their sturdy, muscular build, typically weighing between 13-17 pounds, with a height of 10-15 inches at the shoulder. Their coats can be smooth, broken, or rough, predominantly white with black, tan, or tricolor markings. Known for their spirited and confident temperament, Jack Russells are highly intelligent but can also be quite stubborn, requiring consistent training and ample mental stimulation. While devoted to their families, their high energy levels and strong prey drive make them better suited for active households with secure outdoor spaces rather than small apartments. They can thrive with children if properly socialized, though supervision is always advised due to their boisterous play. Generally healthy, they can be prone to certain genetic conditions such as patellar luxation, Legg-Calve-Perthes disease, and some eye disorders, making responsible breeding crucial.
