Description
Dog Breed: Siberian Husky / German Shepherd Dog / Mixed (medium coat). THE TWO FACES OF NOCTURNE Pleased to make your acquaintance... my name is Nocturne. I wish we were meeting someplace else, but this is currently my home. This place is noisy and, truth be told, a bit nerve-wrecking for a gentle soul like me. When you visit my kennel, I may back away from you, nervous and unsure. The noises and rhythms of this place keep me a bit on edge. But if you are willing to look closer, there is more to me than the shy white dog in the far kennel. Where I really shine is being able to go to a yard where I can feel free, stretching my legs, feeling the fresh air on my face, feeling the joy of just being a Dog. Once outside recently with a Volunteer, she described me as `full of energy, skipping every few steps, wanting to play`. I enjoy going on walks and they say I am an `easy walker`... I just wish the leash didn't have to go over my head to go on those walks, so please just go slow and know it's not personal... things in my past have just made me have to set boundaries, and I appreciate when people are understanding of that. I probably won't run right up to you upon first meeting... my past and present situation can make me wary of touch, and I am more comfortable with body pets than around the head. It doesn't mean that I don't long for the companionship of humans... only that I am looking to develop mutual trust and waiting to find people willing to put in the time and effort. What I'm really hoping for is to catch the eye of a kind soul who sees me not just as the nervous Shepsky in the back, but is willing to look deeper and see the other side of me. My name is Nocturne, and I am just a dog, waiting for my chance to be loved. This sweet girl has participated in shelter playgroups and may enjoy a compatible canine friend in her new home. Looking for a buddy for your dog? Bring him/her to the shelter for a meet and greet and see if we're a match! Check out her playgroup video : To meet me, visit the Bradshaw Animal Shelter Tuesday-Sunday, Noon - 5:00 pm, Wednesdays, Noon - 6:00 pm. We are located at 3839 Bradshaw Road, Sacramento. I look forward to getting to know you!

Breed overview
Overview:
The Gerberian Shepsky is a hybrid of the German Shepherd Dog and Siberian Husky, emerging in North America as a modern companion with working-dog roots. Typically medium to large, they feature an athletic build, erect ears, and a dense double coat, often with striking blue or heterochromatic eyes. Their temperament blends loyalty, intelligence, and independence, making them affectionate yet occasionally headstrong. With very high energy, they thrive on daily exercise and structured training, suiting active families more than apartment living without ample outdoor time. Early socialization supports good manners with children and other pets. Notable health considerations include potential hip dysplasia and eye issues; regular vet care, weight management, and coat grooming help maintain well-being. Their typical lifespan ranges around 10–13 years, rewarding committed owners with a loyal, adventurous companion.
