Description
Dog Breed: Terrier / Terrier / Mixed. "There's no place like home… and there's no place like a forever home for Toto!" Toto is a 4-year-old terrier mix who is playful, affectionate, and downright cuddly. He has a way of making every day brighter. Walks make him bounce like his paws have springs, and once he’s back home, he’s happiest curled up on your lap with his belly up, head draped over your arm, soaking in every scratch and rub. As his foster says, “I put him on my lap and he just melts into me, he loves belly rubs more than anything!” This smart boy is eager to learn and already knows commands like sit, stay, come, and touch. He loves toys, is gentle with children, and instantly calms when he’s touched by a loving hand. He’s fully house trained, enjoys walks, and would thrive as the one-and-only dog in a home where he’s adored and given the patience to continue mastering his recall outside. Toto isn’t a fan of other dogs, but he’s curious and calm around cats, and he absolutely adores human companionship. He’s working through some crate anxiety, but his foster says, “His progress has been amazing, he’s so adaptable and loving!”

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
