Description
Dog Breed: Yorkshire Terrier Yorkie (medium coat). Adoption Fee: 350.00. All dogs listed here are available for adoption from Yorkie Rescue Houston. Our goal is to ensure our rescued pets go to their forever home and never end up back in the system. To that end, an application is required on all potential adopters. Our adoption fee varies by dog. We accept electronic funds via VENMO or Paypal, or cash only. Puppies too young to be spayed/neutered are available for Foster-to-Adopt only. A FTA contract is required. This sweet senior boy was surrendered to BARC — without even a name. His elderly owners could no longer care for him due to their own health concerns, but sadly, they didn’t love him enough to leave him with the one thing that was truly his - his name. We decided he deserved a strong, dignified name, so we called him Logan. And we promised him that from now on, his life would be filled with the love and respect he should’ve always known. Logan came to us in desperate need of a dental, which we’ve taken care of. Now he’s feeling much better and ready to find a home that truly deserves him. One that will cherish his gentle spirit and the unconditional love he has to give. Regardless of his past, Logan’s future is bright and full of promise.

A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
