Description
Dog Breed: Shih Tzu / Lhasa Apso / Mixed (medium coat). Meet Manny – A Resilient Soul Ready for His Forever Home Manny’s story is one of quiet strength and transformation. Found as a stray and picked up by animal control, he arrived in rough shape—covered in fleas, anemic, suffering hair loss, and battling a painful eye ulcer. But with love, care, and time, Manny has made an incredible recovery and is now ready to find a family who will cherish him. Estimated to be around 10 years old, Manny is a gentle senior with a heart full of love. He’s housetrained and enjoys going for walks. Manny gets along well with other dogs and loves snuggling with his foster pup buddy. He’s not interested in toys, but he’s very interested in food—his absolute favorite! After a dental procedure, he’s missing a few teeth, but that hasn’t slowed down his appetite one bit. Manny has been professionally groomed and looks and feels so much better. He’s a champ during baths and even tolerates the blow dryer like a pro. While he doesn’t shed, his skin and coat still need a little TLC—regular baths and simple topical meds help keep him comfortable. His hair is growing back beautifully, and with continued care, he’ll be looking sharp in no time. Manny hasn’t been around children in his foster home, but we believe he’d be fine with older, respectful kids. We think he is cat-friendly—he doesn’t react to squirrels, so we suspect he’d coexist peacefully with feline friends. Manny loves attention and will happily soak up all the affection you’re willing to give. Manny’s journey is a testament to resilience and the healing power of love. If you’re looking for a loyal companion who’s past the puppy chaos but still full of life and affection, Manny might be your perfect match. To help pay for vet bills and care (transportation, food, toys, etc..) a $200 donation is requested at the time of adoption. All of our adoptions are contingent upon an approved application, home visit, reference check, obedience training agreement, and signing of adoption contract. All our dogs are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped before adoption. Our dogs are companion animals that live indoors as part of your family. Please do not apply if your plan is to have them as outside dogs, garage dogs, porch dogs or outside kennel dogs. We do not ship dogs. All of our dogs are in private foster homes. We are not a shelter with hours. A visit can be arranged after an adoption questionnaire has been filled out and sent in. Please try to email first. We are all volunteers that work so we can not easily take or make phone calls.

Breed overview
Overview:
The Shih Apso is a charming and affectionate designer breed, a delightful blend of the Lhasa Apso and the Shih Tzu. Originating from crossing these two beloved Tibetan breeds, the Shih Apso inherits a wonderful combination of traits. Physically, they are typically small to medium-sized, boasting a luxurious, long, and often wavy double coat that requires regular grooming to prevent matting. Their appearance can vary, but generally, they possess expressive eyes and a sweet, often flattened face. Temperamentally, they are known for being friendly, intelligent, and quite playful, making them excellent companions. They adapt well to apartment living and are generally good with respectful children and other pets, though early socialization is always beneficial. While generally healthy, potential health concerns can include respiratory issues common to brachycephalic breeds, as well as eye and joint problems, underscoring the importance of choosing a reputable breeder. Their loving nature makes them a wonderful addition to many households seeking a devoted furry friend.
