Description
Dog Breed: Unknown breed (medium coat). Please contact Nancy (nancy.hemphillgmail) for more information about this pet. Are you looking for the goodest boy to add to your family? Look no further - here he is. Sam is a one year old neutered male medium size mixed breed dog. We know people are going to ask, but honestly breed type would be complete speculation on our part. He weighs 45 pounds. He has beautiful amber eyes and a very pretty coat. He is dog friendly, don’t know about cats. He thinks people are the bomb and would like nothing better than to be someone’s play and cuddle buddy. He is house trained and walks pretty well on a leash. We would venture to say that his personality would make him a pretty good off leash dog too. His recall is excellent and he thrives on praise. He wants to please so very badly Sam is microchipped and completely up to date on vaccinations. LSAR.rescuegroups

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
