Description
Dog Breed: Australian Shepherd. Meet Kash! At just 1 year and 10 months old, Kash is a fun-loving Australian Shepherd with a big heart and plenty of energy to match! This handsome tan-and-white boy is full of life and personality. He loves Milk-Bones, any toy he can get his paws on, and a good game of fetch. He’s a smart cookie who already knows sit, down, and stop, and he’s both housebroken and kennel trained. Kash enjoys car rides and is used to leash walking, though he can be a little eager and might pull at first, he just gets so excited for an adventure! He’s done great at the vet and loves spending time with people. Because Kash likes to be the center of attention, his best fit would be a home where he’s the only dog, with older kids, a fenced yard, and someone home often to give him the exercise and love he thrives on. He’s never been swimming or to the groomer before, but he’s a good boy who’s eager to learn and experience new things with his forever family. If you’re looking for a loyal, active companion who will shower you with love (and a few tennis balls), Kash is your guy! You may find me on our website under "ADOPT

Overview:
The Australian Shepherd, despite its name, actually originated in the western United States during the 19th century, bred primarily for herding livestock on ranches. These striking dogs are medium-sized with a sturdy build, often sporting captivating merle coats (blue or red) and piercing blue, amber, or marbled eyes, sometimes with two different colors (heterochromia). Known for their exceptional intelligence and high energy, Aussies possess a strong work drive and thrive on having a "job" to do, whether it's agility, obedience, or extensive exercise. Their temperament is generally loyal, affectionate, and good-natured with their families, though they can be reserved with strangers. Due to their high exercise requirements and need for mental stimulation, they are best suited for active families or individuals with ample outdoor space and a commitment to training; apartment living is generally not ideal. Potential owners should also be aware of common health concerns like hip and elbow dysplasia and certain eye conditions, including Collie Eye Anomaly (CEA) and Progressive Retinal Atrophy (PRA).
