Dog Breed: Flat-coated Retriever (medium coat). Adoption Fee: $ 250.00. Please contact Amy (amyhendy69gmail), (812) 341-9550 for more information about this pet. Online Adoption Application › This handsome boy will make a great wingman! He's an absolute sweetheart and just wants to be by your side. He’s still a pup, around a year old, he's playful, energetic, a little silly, and trainable. He's house trained, crate trained, gets along great with humans, dogs, and is indifferent to cats. He is treat motivated and wants to please which makes training easier. He’d thrive with a family who can provide alot of regular exercise, play time, toys, love, patience, and consistency. He's a good boy! Currently, he’s recovering from surgery to repair a broken hind leg he had when he came to the rescue. He’s on the mend and healing well, but is still on "crate rest" for several more weeks, then he'll be good as new. If you're interested in this guy please fill out an application and read up on FCRs (flat-coated retrievers).

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
