American Pit Bull Terrier Dogs For Adoption in Rockville, MD, USA

For Adoption

Description

Dog Breed: Pit Bull Terrier (short coat). Adoption Fee: 410. CLINTON Male 3 years old Pit bull terrier 50 lbs. Microchipped, up-to-date on core vaccines and takes monthly flea/tick/heartworm prevention Good with dogs; untested with kids and cats Meet Clinton! Clinton is such a happy, tail-wagging boy whose joy is contagious! His tail never stops moving, especially when he’s excited — which is often. He loves meeting new people, and everyone who meets him instantly falls for his sweet personality and his favorite move: rolling over for belly rubs. Clinton is discovering the fun of playing with toys and tennis balls. He’s an enthusiastic chaser, but you’ll need a treat handy if you want him to drop the ball! He plays with gusto, especially with toys that squeak or have stuffing. When playtime’s over, Clinton transforms into a cozy companion who loves soft spots — a sofa, a pile of blankets, or your favorite chair (if you’re too slow to claim it first!). This good boy is also perfect in the car — calm, polite, and content to relax in the backseat until you open his door and clip on his leash. Clinton enjoys every adventure, especially those that come with new people to meet and other dogs to say hello to. Most of all, Clinton just wants to be close to his person. He’ll follow you from room to room, happy to be part of whatever you’re doing. Whether you’re out exploring or cuddled up on the couch, Clinton’s ideal day ends with treats, belly rubs, and a nap right beside his favorite human. Clinton is ready to find a forever home filled with love, laughter, and plenty of toys! Interested in adopting? Of course you are! Submit an application here! Overview:

The American Pit Bull Terrier (APBT) is a robust and intelligent breed, originating in the United States from crossbreeding Old English Terriers and Old English Bulldogs for dog-fighting purposes. Physically, they are medium-sized, known for their muscular build, broad heads, and powerful jaws, typically weighing between 30-60 pounds. Their coats are short and come in a wide array of colors. Temperamentally, a well-socialized APBT is often described as loyal, affectionate, and people-oriented, displaying a playful and sometimes clownish demeanor. They can be excellent family companions, provided they receive consistent training and early socialization, though their high energy levels mean they thrive with active owners. While they can adapt to apartment living with sufficient exercise, a house with a secure yard is often preferred. Notable health considerations include a predisposition to hip and elbow dysplasia, allergies, and certain heart conditions.
