Email: ddrtxinfogmail Primary Website: .DDRTX Hello, I am a very sweet 2 year old little black and tan girl who found my way into rescue by no fault of my own. I have done everything right like giving lots of kisses, taking every step with my human, playing with all my toys and having fun on walks. I came in with an eye issue and my foster mom and the doctors did everything we could to save it but we just couldn’t keep the eye. I’m totally ok with not having it, I couldn’t see that great with it when it was there anyways. I did re learn a few things but my mom says I’m really smart so it only took me a few days. I relearned the doggie door and playing with my toys. I never had a problem with dinner time ! My foster mom says I can do that with my both eyes closed, if I had to !!! I like to go in my crate for quiet time, but I will always prefer the big bed with you. I do not have to go back to the vet for a checkup for my eye anytime soon so mom says I am ready to find my forever home. If you are looking for a sweet playful girl then I am the pup for you! Overview:
The Dachshund, affectionately known as the "wiener dog," is a fascinating breed originating in Germany, primarily bred to hunt badgers and other burrowing animals. Their most distinctive physical characteristic is their long, low-slung body and short, muscular legs, a feature perfectly adapted for tunneling. They come in three coat types – smooth, longhaired, and wirehaired – and various sizes, from miniature to standard. Temperamentally, Dachshunds are known for being courageous, curious, and often quite playful, with a surprising amount of energy. While they are intelligent, their independent nature can make training a delightful challenge. Their small size and relatively low exercise requirements make them well-suited for apartment living, and they can be wonderful companions for families, though early socialization is key, especially with children and other pets. Regarding health, their unique body shape predisposes them to intervertebral disc disease (IVDD), so careful handling and weight management are crucial.
