Description
Dog Breed: Beagle. Adoption Fee: $300.00. Blueberry has quickly become a favorite in her foster home and loves to follow her people around the house to make sure she's not missing out on anything! She does take a little time to warm up and can be a bit skittish at first, especially around strangers or in busy environments. Blueberry appreciates a patient approach—if you sit calmly and let her come to you, she'll show her soft, affectionate side in no time. She is house and crate trained and sleeps peacefully through the night next to her foster mama. She goes into her crate willingly for food or treats and can stay there for several hours without accidents. She’s also getting better with her separation anxiety and gaining confidence every day. Blueberry does great with other calm dogs, greeting them politely and then going about her business, but would do best in a home with no cats or young children. A fenced yard would be a big plus for Blueberry as she enjoys spending time outside and sometimes prefers a little alone time in the yard soaking up the smells and sounds of nature. At her core, Blueberry is a true companion dog — she wants to be close, loves to cuddle, and will happily curl up right beside you (or on you!) when it’s time to rest. She’ll wait for you by your pillow at bedtime and greet you every morning with gentle kisses. If you’re looking for a sweet, sensitive soul who will adore you with all her heart once she feels safe, Blueberry might be your perfect match.

Overview:
The Beagle is a beloved scent hound with a rich history, originally bred in England for hunting hare and rabbit. Their most recognizable physical traits include a sturdy, compact build, adorable floppy ears, and soulful brown or hazel eyes. Beagles typically weigh between 18-30 pounds and stand 13-16 inches tall, featuring a smooth, dense coat that comes in a variety of tri-color or bi-color patterns. In terms of temperament, they are known for being exceptionally friendly, curious, and outgoing, making them wonderful companions for families with children and other pets. However, their strong prey drive and inclination to follow interesting scents mean they require a securely fenced yard and consistent leash training. While adaptable, their need for exercise and tendency to vocalize (howl!) makes them less ideal for small apartment living unless daily walks and mental stimulation are guaranteed. Regarding health, Beagles can be prone to certain conditions like hip dysplasia, epilepsy, and intervertebral disc disease, making responsible breeding and regular veterinary check-ups important.
