Description
Dog Breed: Doberman Pinscher (short coat). Adoption Fee: 500.00. Tulsa’s story started rough. She was found abandoned and left to fend for herself, but you’d never know it from the happy, wiggly, affectionate puppy she is today. Now safe in foster care, Tulsa is thriving — and she’s ready to find a family of her own. Tulsa adores people and has been wonderfully gentle with the 9- and 4-year-old kids in her foster home. She’s playful, snuggly, and wants nothing more than to be close to her humans or canine friends. Tulsa gets along beautifully with her Doberman foster siblings. She especially loves playing with the 4-year-old female and respectfully ignores the 5-year-old male who isn’t interested… though she does occasionally use him as a pillow when he’ll allow it! She loves dogs of all sizes, but her puppy energy can be a lot for more timid dogs. A confident canine companion who sets boundaries would be ideal. Dog-free homes are possible too, as long as she has regular playdates to burn off energy. Home Life & Manners Kennel trained: Sleeps quietly all night, no accidents. House manners: Takes food gently, waits politely for meals, responds well to redirection. Energy: Typical 9-month-old bursts of zoomies followed by excellent settling. Yard: Loves being outside! A fence is required to keep her safe from chasing squirrels and birds. Walks: Learning leash manners and enjoys exploring. Car rides: Getting more comfortable with each trip. Cats: Not a match — her prey drive is too high for feline friends. Tulsa will thrive with an active adopter who can give her structure, enrichment, and lots of love. She’s affectionate, eager to learn, and bonds quickly. With consistency, playtime, and companionship, she’ll grow into an incredible lifelong partner. If you're looking for a sweet, silly, snuggly girl with a joyful spirit and so much potential, Tulsa could be the perfect match! Overview:
The Doberman Pinscher is a sleek and powerful breed originating from Germany in the late 19th century, specifically developed by Karl Friedrich Louis Dobermann for protection. Known for their striking, athletic build, Dobermans typically possess a short, glossy coat that comes in black, red, blue, or fawn, often with rust-colored markings. Their temperament is a fascinating blend of loyalty, intelligence, and alertness, making them exceptional guardians and devoted companions. While highly trainable and eager to please, they require early socialization and consistent training to channel their energy and protectiveness appropriately. Dobermans can thrive in active families who can provide ample exercise and mental stimulation, but their need for space and activity generally makes them less suitable for small apartment living unless exceptionally well-exercised. Regarding health, they are predisposed to certain conditions like Dilated Cardiomyopathy (DCM), Von Willebrand's Disease, and Wobbler Syndrome, so responsible breeding and veterinary care are paramount.
