She's a happy, goofy young pup ready to bring lots of joy and laughter to her forever home, and at around 11 months old, she’s still very much a puppy. Just watch her go here! Full of energy, curiosity, and love, her silly antics and playful spirit are sure to keep you smiling all day long! Melon also loves everyone she meets, including other dogs. She’d be thrilled to have a canine buddy who can match her playful energy! She’s still learning the ropes and will do best with an adopter who can give her structure, patience, and positive guidance as she grows into a well-rounded adult dog. In return, she’ll shower you with affection, tail wags, and plenty of goofy charm! All animals adopted from PAWS are up-to-date on age-appropriate vaccinations, spayed/neutered, and microchipped. Adoption fees are as follows, including taxes: Adult cats (6 months+) are $81. (1) Kitten (<6 months) is $135. (2) Kittens (<6 months) are $216. Puppies (<12 months) are $324. Adult Dogs (< 25lbs) are $297. Adult Dogs (25lbs+) are $162. Small animals are $27. The PAWS Adoption Center in Old City at 2nd and Arch Streets is open to walk-ins or by appointment Monday-Friday from 12 pm to 6 pm, Saturday 11 am to 6 pm, and Sunday from 11 am to 5 pm. Cats and small animals are available at this location. PAWS also has cats available for adoption at the Petsmart at Broad St and Washington Ave by appointment. PAWS has a large network of foster homes where dogs, cats, and small animals are available for adoption. Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
