Dog Breed: Yorkshire Terrier Yorkie (medium coat). Adoption Fee: 350.00. All dogs listed here are available for adoption from Yorkie Rescue Houston. Our goal is to ensure our rescued pets go to their forever home and never end up back in the system. To that end, an application is required on all potential adopters. Our adoption fee varies by dog. We accept electronic funds via VENMO or Zelle, or cash only. donateyorkierescuehouston or, if you prefer: our fundraising platform, Zeffy Puppies too young to be spayed/neutered are available for Foster-to-Adopt only. A FTA contract is required. Diva's mom passed away from brain cancer. Her 'aunt' took over her care. and eventually it became too much for her too. Diva is a happy little dancer! this girl, like most littles, is scared of loud noises and will seek refuge under the bed, or in her crate. She gets a bit nervous with a lot of activity/commotion, and will do best in a more sedate, quiet home. so, no party animals, please! Diva does not do well on long car-rides She has been well loved and cared for, so neglect is not an issue. She was, however allowed to live her whole life intact. We are lucky she did not develop life threatening pyometra. She is now spayed and had a much needed dental. She is a needy little girl. She wants to be in your company. AT ALL TIMES! She is used to being hand-fed... so.... Diva is ready for her FINAL home. is that you? NO HOMES WITH CHILDREN for this girl.

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
