Description
Dog Breed: Pit Bull Terrier (medium coat). Meet Elroy — Our Gentle, Sunshine-Loving Tripod Elroy’s journey to us wasn’t easy. He was found abandoned in a parking lot, dirty and smelling of skunk. Yet despite everything, this sweet three-legged boy chose love, and he quickly became a staff and volunteer favorite. Elroy is the definition of a mellow gentleman. His happiest place is right beside you or stretched out in a sunny spot. He loves quiet companionship, soft pets, and those long, slow scratches that make him melt with happiness. He’s an easy, enjoyable walking buddy who likes to stroll, sniff, and take in the world at his own pace. Elroy has been housed with other dogs and has done well. In the yard, he’s content to relax by your side, enjoy the fresh air, and play simple enrichment games like “find the treats.” We believe Elroy is potty trained, and he’s wonderfully calm—no barking at passing dogs or people, just gentle curiosity and a wagging tail. If you’re looking for a loyal, soothing companion who will fill your home with warmth, sunshine, and quiet joy, Elroy is ready to meet you. This handsome old guy recently met some social dogs at our shelter and did fine. He would probably prefer a slower, more respectful dog crowd due to his age and his disability, but he did a good job putting up with some shenanigans in our younger crowd. He's sharing his shelter suite with a friend he met at the shelter. Looking for a buddy for your dog? Bring him/her to the shelter for a meet and greet and see if we're a match! To help expedite the meet and greet process, please make note of my Animal ID number, and those of other dogs you might be interested in meeting. Be sure to bring your ID with you, too.
