Description
Dog Breed: Shepherd / Mixed (short coat). Hi, my name is Betsy and I'm about 5 months old. Me and my litter mate, Barney, were rescued by Bond County Humane Society from a shelter in KY. When we arrived we were severely underweight caused by infestation of parasites. We were treated and we have thrived and grown tremendously after receiving treatment. I am friendly and affectionate. I just want to be next to somebody to cuddle. I love playing with toys if I'm not playing with Barney. I am leash trained. I am working on my puppy manners. So far I know "Sit". I will do anything you want me to do for a treat. I have not been around small children so I will need supervision to make sure I don't get too rowdy. I am crate trained. I am available for immediate adoption. I am spayed, UTD on vaccinations, treated for internal and external parasites and micro chipped. My adoption fee is $300. Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
