Description
Dog Breed: Terrier / Mixed. Pepper is a five-year-old mutt and a sweet cuddlebug! At 37 pounds, she loves lounging in a sunny spot, snuggling on the couch, or following you from room to room. Pepper is happiest when she’s your sidekick—she’ll listen intently to every word you say! Pepper has settled beautifully into her foster home and quickly shows her loving nature—she’s the kind of dog who just wants to be wherever her person is. She’s house-trained, crate-trained, and knows several commands like sit, stay, and lay down. While she can be a little vocal about new sounds or visitors, Pepper is easily redirected and listens well. Pepper loves playing fetch and tug of war, any squeaky stuffed animal, and toys that have treats hidden inside for her to investigate. She also likes walking around the neighborhood and exploring new places. She’s full of energy and would thrive with a daily walk and playtime to help her burn it off. She’s good with other dogs and enjoys friendly play, though she can get a little jumpy when excited. She’s best suited for a home without very young children, as she’s shown discomfort around babies and toddlers. Pepper cannot live with cats. Pepper’s looking for a home that can match her big heart and playful energy, and she'll happily give you plenty of love and attention in return! Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
