Description
Dog Breed: Shetland Sheepdog Sheltie (medium coat). To make the adoption process faster and easier, please visit .almosthomeohio and complete our online application! Jackson is 6 yrs old Jackson is new to his foster situation and is slowly adapting to his surroundings. He is learning how to process freedom and can become overwhelmed at times. When he first meets new people, he is happily cautious and can be a bit timid. He will typically retreat to his open pen and lie down in his crate, hanging back and watching the action. He reacts positively to a comforting voice, which makes him incredibly happy. His foster family says he eats well, loves his treats and is picking up on his commands. He’s been introduced to the family dogs and loves playing with them. Outdoor adventures are his favorite part of the day, especially when he gets to run around and let out his zoomies! If something outside overwhelms him, he retreats back to the safety of his foster dad for reassurance. Jackson is making great strides daily. With continued time, patience and love, he will be a great addition to his forever home. Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
