Description
Dog Breed: Terrier / Mixed. Bailey is a 4-year-old, 50-pound mixed-breed sweetheart with a heart as big as his smile. We're pretty sure he's part meatball! He’s gentle and a little shy at first, but once he feels safe, his playful and affectionate side shines through. This handsome boy was surrendered when his owner went into a nursing home. Since then, Bailey has shown nothing but kindness and patience — he’s the kind of dog who quietly wins you over with his soft eyes and calm presence. Bailey gets along wonderfully with dogs, cats, and kids, making him a perfect addition to a family that values a gentle, easygoing companion. He would thrive most in a quieter home where he can take his time settling in and be part of daily life at his own pace. Bailey is potty and crate trained, fully vaccinated and neutered. He loves going for walks, taking car rides, and being near his people. Once comfortable, Bailey is delightfully goofy and loves to play. If you’re looking for a loyal, affectionate companion who’s past the puppy stage but still full of love and life, Bailey might just be your perfect match. Bailey is available for adoption starting 10/24 through Paws Across Pittsburgh, Springdale, PA KL# 16182.

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
